TERRY REIDPreview11/05/2008 8:30pm£13 Advance / £15 Door
Born in Cambridgeshire England in 1949 Terry began his career early as a small child perched on an empty crate singing his heart and soul out to fruit pickers in the local orchards. By the time he’d entered his teens there was only one course that Terry wanted to follow, life on the road in a rock’n roll band.

Kicking off in a schoolboy beat group he was soon spotted by Peter Jay leader of The Jaywalkers, a 60’s band looking for a new style and direction. The subsequent inclusion on the group package tours of the day gave Terry some vital experience and also some very useful contacts. It wasn’t long before Terry was fronting his own band and aged just 16 in 1966 as a mark of his developing talent he was supporting the Stones on a UK tour along with Ike and Tina Turner and the Yardbirds.

The tour included a gig at the Albert Hall and an early meeting with future guitar hero Jimmy Page. Although a couple of singles displaying Terry’s talent had been released it wasn’t until he was taken on by hot UK producer Mickie Most in 1968 that his real potential would become apparent to the wider public. At the same time as Terry was getting used to the pleasing prospects of his solo career Jimmy Page was looking to form the new Yardbirds and offered Terry the vocal spot in the soon to be Led Zeppelin.

What a choice, right or wrong Terry plumped for his solo career, pointing Jimmy to an unknown singer called Robert Plant. In hindsight an unlucky choice but at the time doors were opening for Terry and the curiously named Led Zeppelin was by no means a certain bet at the time. Indeed before the year was out Terry was supporting Cream on their farewell tour by personal invitation of Eric Clapton.

A couple of albums were subsequently released including the eponymous and well regarded Terry Reid in 1969. A further stint with the Stones on the 1969 tour that ended with Altamont giving Terry another taste of the many attractions that USA had to offer. Into the 70’s and Terry was playing at the IOW festival with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, The Who and Joni Mitchell.

Also opening the first full Glastonbury festival on the newly commissioned pyramid stage. Playing songs from his as yet unfinished masterpiece River, thankfully re-released on CD in 2002. Terry was spending more and more time in the states and although he has never lost his distinctive Cambridgeshire accent he decided to set up home there in California where he’s remained for the last 3 decades. ‘Chilling out’ in the West Coast atmosphere before the term had even been coined. A woefully few releases have appeared since then, though each one a gem in its own right. Of particular note, Seed Of Memory, produced by Graham Nash who Terry had remained friends with from way back in the 60’s and those package band tours when Graham was in the Hollies.

In LA Terry rubbed shoulders with and gigged with a whole host of star residents and passing musicians; The Beach Boys, The Eagles, Graham Nash, JD Souther and Bob Dylan to name but a few. An accomplished songsmith his songs have been covered by the likes of John Mellencamp, Marianne Faithful and C, S and N. The latter end of the 1990’s saw Terry in an all star band playing in hip LA club The Joint, that drew the likes of Roger Daltrey, Eric Burdon and Keith Richards to drop by, listen and get up to play.

Into the new millennium and Terry’s star has begun to rise again with appearances at Womad and a joyful return to Glastonbury in 2005 by invitation of Michael Eavis himself. Now in his 4th decade of touring Terry’s voice seems to have lost none of its power, the ability of that voice, to send a tingle down your spine and stir your soul remains.Touring the UK this year accompanied by a new young band with a distinct rock/bluegrass sound capable of playing faithful renditions of old favourites from the 60’s, county rock classics from River and Seed of Memory era as well as helping Terry showcase new songs. Terry Reid ; he still has super lungs, catch him while you can.

ANDY FAIRWEATHER LOW & THE LOW RIDERS  Preview23/05/2008 8:30pm£18
Andy Fairweather Low has been something of a quiet man of rock. Chances are you’ll know his hits - Wide Eyed And Legless, Reggae Tune, Bend Me Shape Me, Hello Susie, (If Paradise Is) Half As Nice, Gin House Blues, Natural Sinner... if not his name, but all that’s about to change. From the early days in Amen Corner, his solo career and then years spent with Eric Clapton, Roger Waters and Bill Wyman, not to mention playing with Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix , The Who, George Harrison and BB King, Andy has not just been a stalwart but a shining light. “The Very Best Of Andy Fairweather Low – The Low Rider” quite rightly celebrates that fact.

The album is due for release on Proper Records on June 2nd and features 14 of his best known tracks. The album effortlessly mixes re-recorded versions of his biggest hits with some of the most in-demand live numbers that he plays on tour. The tour covers 35 dates including Glastonbury, Trowbridge, Cambridge Rock and Colne Blues Festivals, and is not to be missed. Born in Cardiff, Andy originally came to fame as vocalist and leader of pop group Amen Corner which claimed an international No 1 with (If Paradise Is) Half As Nice.

He then formed the band Fairweather and subsequently began his illustrious solo career. Hand in glove with his music came his tennis – Andy is also an International tennis pro.

Some of the musical highlights over the years have included: -- Backing vocals on the Who’s 1978 “Who Are You” and subsequent playing on their ’82 “It’s Hard” album and with Pete Townshend on his Psychoderelict tour. -- Touring all over since the early 90s as a mainstay of Eric Clapton’s band and playing on eight albums with Eric. -- Performing with George Harrison and at the Tribute For George concert. -- Working with Roger Waters since 1985, a long and rewarding relationship which recently saw Andy rejoining him for the Dark Side Of the Moon tour. -- Playing in Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, a relationship that dates back to 1983 when they worked together on Ronnie Lane’s ARMS benefit concert at the Royal Albert Hall

THE DEBORAH BONHAM BAND  Preview25/05/2008 8:30pm£7 advance / £8 door
Deborah and the band have just finished recording the new album 'Duchess', featuring all new original material. Deborah has even co-written an unfinished Steve Marriott/Jerry Shirley composition. Deborah's live band (Peter Bullick Guitars, Ian Rowley Bass, G Louis Keys, Jerry Shirley Drums) take up the reins in the studio, contributing co-writes, and a solid backing for some wonderful guest musicians, including Jerry Shirley (Humble Pie), Jason Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Dick Parry (Pink Floyd), BJ Cole (EmmyLou Harris), Robbie Blunt (Robert Plant), Dave Pegg (Fairport Convention), and a duet Paul Rodgers.

Deborah's last album, 'The Old Hyde' released in the UK on Track Records in 2004 is a stunning array of bluesy rock and emotive ballads, all perfectly showcasing Deborah's powerful voice to maximum effect. The title track being a ballad written about her Father Jack, and brother's John & Michael and the house they built, where Deborah lived. Produced by MO FOSTER (of Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Phil Collins fame), the album features guest appearances from, MICK FLEETWOOD, Robert Plant guitarists ROBBIE BLUNT and DOUGIE BOYLE, Pretenders/Paul McCartney's guitarist ROBBIE MCINTOSH and John's son JASON BONHAM on drums.

Born in Worcestershire, the younger sister of the late John Bonham. Deborah was only five when John joined Led Zeppelin, and this powerful introduction sparked in her the overwhelming desire to write and perform her own material. Her home was at The Old Hyde farm, where she lived with her father, John Henry Bonham snr, known as Jack, in the cottage at the back of The Old Hyde Farm. Her brother, John and his family, lived in the main House.

While living there, Deborah and Jason started playing and recording their own songs. At the age of 17, at Robert Plant's house in a nearby village, she recorded her first demos. With some encouragement and advice from Robert, Deborah sent out the songs anonymously and soon landed her first record deal with the major label Carrere Records, for whom she recorded the critically acclaimed album "For You and the Moon".

The album reached the top 5 in the NME chart, was Simon Bates record of the week on Radio 1 and sold extremely well in Europe, being voted "Record of the Year" by Musik Mart, Germany. A period of recording for the Japanese Sam Corporation followed, and with press and radio promotion including interviews for Burrn and J Wave Radio. After this, English label RPM records released the single, "Perfect World" in 1995. Deborah spent 1996 getting her new band together, new songs for an album and playing some great shows such as headlining The Belfast Festival and a sell out show at the Bottom Line, Shepherd's Bush to excellent reviews, honing a new direction for the forthcoming album. The beginning of 1997 saw two extremely successful trips to the US. Firstly, she performed live on LA's Rockline radio to three million listeners throughout North America and Canada. This was followed by a special appearance with Jason Bonham and his band at the Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles, where she went down a storm!

The success of the first trip led to another visit to the US with her band to open for Jason Bonham Band's shows in Los Angeles 'House of Blues' with guests Slash and Terry Reid, Dallas Fort Worth, Houston, New York and Chicago 'House of Blues'. Subsequently, two more tours across America were secured. Back in the UK and Europe, Deborah toured and performed with Van Halen, Alannah Myles, Tim Rose, Uli Jon Roth, Paul Weller, Humble Pie, Donovan, Lonnie Donnegan, Jools Holland, Ann Peebles, Foreigner and Paul Rodgers. Played festivals from Glastonbury to Donnington, and twice at Fairport Convention's Cropredy Festival.
